Atlanta Heirloom Photographer – Minoo Mayfield
Minoo Mayfield Photography presents a classic and timeless way of capturing your child’s innocence and joy within her Peachtree Corners home studio. This portrait style is sure to last and be passed down for multiple generations, even while being edited with a modern twist.
My “in-home studio” Origin Story
Hi there! I’m Minoo. A once very busy photographer turned full time working mom with little time to spare. Gone were my days of being able to travel on the weekends and weeknights to capture on location newborn and family sessions. With life’s many blessings, I really had to sacrifice opportunities that once brought me joy for my well being in other areas. Then it all changed.
After studying studio lighting (something I always wanted to learn as previous product stylist working in a photo studio) and challenging myself to create an heirloom portrait of my son, I realized that I could use my big, spacious, living room with white walls and big windows as a studio. Not only would that option keep costs down for my clients, but I could make it so cozy, homey and inviting. My atlanta heirloom photography began!
Session Details
The length of an heirloom session is about 10 minutes, which I have found to be plenty of time to get “the shot.” I will be sure to get familiar with your child(ren) through a questionnaire before your shoot to make everyone feel more comfortable. I want my clients to feel known and valued. Furthermore, as a mom of a toddler and someone who photographed newborns and families for eight years, I feel very comfortable working with children and making them feel safe. My home studio is located in Peachtree Corners, GA.
Wardrobe Suggestions
I would suggest neutral colors and a collar, for both boys and girls. You will only see the sleeves, neckline, and a little bit of the shirt/dress. Smocked, heirloom pieces are perfect for this style of portraiture, especially if it is a hand-me-down! If you want to go more modern, a simple button down would be precious as well! Some shops I would recommend are: Little English and Cecil and Lou.
Displaying Your Heirloom Portraits
1-2 weeks after your session, I will deliver a proofing gallery that will include 5 edited heirloom portraits in both color and black & white (ten total images). From this gallery, you can purchase hi-res digitals, fine art prints, and decadent framing. All of these options are sure to make a beautiful impression when displaying them. My end goal, and what I love to help my clients with, is making sure these portraits end up on your walls. These are just too special to live on cloud storage.
Artwork Offerings
I have two types of Fine Art Prints my clients can choose from. They are “Cotton Rag,” a smooth 100% cotton archival print, and a “Deckled Edge Print,” a textured hand torn archival print. Both options feel so good to hold. It’s a quality that you cannot receive from a printer at your local drugstore.
I also have a selection of ten frames for clients to choose from. Framing includes an 8 ply 2″ mat, a fine art print, conservation grade glass and paper backing. It is a luxe product that will keep your print from fading or yellowing. In turn, your fine art print has a “lifetime print guarantee.” These frames include a variety of tones, textures and patterns. They really are something special!
Portraits Everyone Will Love
